Most of you were promoted to or became supervisors, managers, or leaders because you were outstanding “doers”. When taking on leadership, you quickly realized that being an outstanding leader requires you to use a whole different skill set than you did previously. And, quite frankly, the doing part of your job (even if the job is difficult) is the easiest part – knowing how to address the people that work with you is WAY more difficult.
At PeopleWorks, we believe it’s our job to help you to navigate management and leadership – helping you learn what works and what doesn’t. Our goal is to ensure you have all the tools in your toolbox to help you be the best leader you can be. Everything included in our training is real-world, and is aimed at helping you with the day-to-day leadership challenges you face.
On an airplane recently, someone asked what the most critical components of being a great manager included… Our response to this question is always the same. It’s all about mastering the fundamentals – how you interview and select, appraise people and performance, coach, document and discipline, and motivate/retain/engage. Just like great athletes, all of us need to continue to practice. So, these are the topics you will find here on our site – to help you master the fundamentals.
We do many onsite management and leadership training programs, and decided it’s time to bring our training to you – whenever and wherever you need it. PeopleWorks online was developed to help us reach more leaders (those of you that don’t have the opportunity to attend a face-to-face session), and to reach you faster (for those of you who have been newly promoted), and to reach you more frequently (refreshers for those of you that have attending a previous training) with everything you need at your fingertips. Participants have told us they wished they could take Kathy along back to their workplaces – now you can!
